Charleston never seems to stay the same for long. There's always a new restaurant to try, a boutique opening on King Street, or a new neighborhood spot that gives you another reason to explore a part of town you haven't visited in a while.
Lately, the latest Charleston openeing have included everything from a new waterfront dining concepts to independent coffee shops and fashion brands bringing fresh energy to the city. And beyond downtown, new businesses are continuing to pop up throughout the Lowcountry.
If you're looking for what's new in Charleston SC, here are the openings I'm watching this fall.
New Restaurants in Charleston SC to Try
Cheeky: A New Seafood Spot Downtown
If you love trying new Charleston restaurants, Cheeky is one to know.
Located at 151 Meeting Street, Cheeky comes from the Neighborhood Dining Group, the hospitality team behind local favorites including Husk and Marbled & Fin. The concept brings a more playful approach to seafood, with globally inspired coastal flavors, creative cocktails, and a lively atmosphere.
It offers a different take on downtown dining, making it an interesting addition to the historic district.
Cafe Lucca: A New Coffee Stop on Meeting Street
For a more casual addition to your Charleston routine, Cafe Lucca opened inside Doar Bros. at 225 Meeting Street.
The Italian-inspired daytime coffee concepts serves espresso drinks, Italian cream sodas, smoothies, fresh juices, and a small breakfast menu, along with rotating pastries from local bakeries.
I love seeing concepts like this bring a different use to an existing space. It's a reminder that some of the most interesting new places in Charleston aren't necessarily standalone restaurants.
CurrentBurger: Burgers with a Waterfront View
Located at The Cooper beside Waterfront Park, CurrentBurger brings a nostalgic, fast-casual burger-shop concept to the downtown waterfront. At 176 Concord Street.
The menu includes smash burgers, fries, fountain sodas, hand-spun milkshakes, and a soft-serve ice cream. There's also a walk-up window overlooking the park, making it a fun option for a casual lunch while exploring downtown.
More New Restaurants to Put on Your Radar
A few other recent additions worth knowing about include:
KYN: A downtown handroll and sushi concept at 61 Canon Street, offering seafood-focused dishes and cocktails.
Le Bistro by Azur: An intimate French-inspired dining and cocktail spot at 159 Market Street.

If you're someone who likes having a running list of new places to try, there are all worth keeping in mind.
New Shops Coming to King Street
Charleston's shopping scene is also getting a refresh, with several national and independent brands planning new storefronts along King Street.
DOEN
The California-founded fashion label DOEN is planning a Charleston storefront at 337 King Street.
Known for its romantic, vintage-inspired clothing, accessories, and relaxed coastal aesthetic, the brand feels like a natural fit for Charleston's mix of historic architecture and laid-back style.
Johnnie-O by M. Dumas & Sons
Charleston's longtime menswear retailer M. Dumas & Sons is expanding its Johnnie-O presence with a larger storefront at 295 King Street.
The new location is expected to offer more inventory and lifestyle products, with women's apparel joining the assortment. It's an interesting evolution for a retailer with deep roots in Charleston's shopping scene.
More Retail Openings to Watch
Other brands reported as planning Charleston storefront include
Palmetto Moon: A southern lifestyle retailer expected at 360 King St.
Emily McCarthy: A fashion and lifestyle boutique planned for 186 King Street.
Granado: The Brazilian fragrance and body-care brand reported plans for a Charleston shop at 370 King Street.

Opening dates can shift, so check each brand's official website or social channels before making a special trip.
New Businesses Beyond Downtown Charleston
Some of the most interesting changes are happening outside the historic peninsula, too.
West Ashley Continues to Add New Options
West Ashley is worth watching for new restaurants and neighborhood businesses, particularly around established retail corridors and growing residential areas.
Recent additions include Emily Pizza and Angel Biscuit Co. at 835 Savannah Highway, a day-to-night concept combing pizza and biscuits under one roof.
North Charleston's Navy Yard Is Becoming a Destination
North Charleston's Navy Yard has also been attracting new food and hospitality concepts.
Riva Mare, a coastal Italian restaurant at Storehouse 9, adds rooftop dining and waterfront-adjacent views to the area's growing mix of destinations.
It's another example of how the Charleston's dining and lifestyle scene extends well beyond downtown.
My Charleston List: What I'm Watching Next
If I were planning a weekend around what's new in Charleston, I'd start with coffee at Cafe Lucca, take a walk along Waterfront Park, and explore the new and upcoming shops on King Street.
I'd also keep an eye on the city's next wave of restaurant openings, particularly the concepts expanding into West Ashley and North Charleston.
Charleston is constantly evolving, and I love keeping track of the places that add something new to the local scene.
Whether you're a longtime local, new to the area, or considering a move to Charleston, there's always another neighborhood to explore and another spot to discover. And I'll be keeping this list updated as more openings are announced.
